Grove City thumps Wooster

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team earned a 162-107 non-conference victory over visiting Wooster Saturday afternoon at the James E. Longnecker Pool.

Senior Nick Hamilton (Crescent, Pa./Moon) helped pace Grove City (5-5) by earning three individual wins. He won the 100 free in 48.46 seconds, took the 200 free in 1:47.36 and won the 500 in 4:57.50.

Senior Kirk Gagliardo (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) won the 50 free in 21.30 seconds while senior Ben Bowser (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) took the 200 butterfly in 1:59.95.

Also for Grove City, sophomore Dave Bossert (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) won the 1650 (17:38.40), junior Adam Walker (Lexington, Ky./Homeschooled) prevailed in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.47) and senior Clay Beckner (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) won the 200 individual medley (2:04.43).

Freshman Richie Klimek (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) won 1-meter diving with 219.65 points.

Beckner, Bowser, Gagliardo and sophomore C.P. Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) opened the meet by winning the 400 medley relay in 3:35.15. Dehli, Hamilton, Gagliardo and junior Eric Fairchild (Corry, Pa./Corry) capped the meet with an exhibition time of 1:27.45 in the 200 free relay.

The Wolverines will visit Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Westminster Thursday at 6 p.m.
