Wolverines compete at Kenyon Quad
GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team competed in the Kenyon College Quad Saturday afternoon, squaring off with national powers Case Western Reserve and Kenyon as well as Division II power Gannon. Grove City dropped a 192-88 decision to Gannon while Case secured a 248-50 win over the Wolverines. Kenyon also claimed a 210-78 victory.
Sophomore diver Richie Klimek (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) led Grove City with top-five finishes in both diving events. He took fourth on the 3-meter board with 214.28 points and placed fifth on the low board with 200.78 points.
Senior Eric Fairchild (Corry, Pa./Corry) took fifth in the 100 free with a time of 48.79 seconds. He also took seventh in the 50 free with a time of 22.11 seconds.
Junior Louis Gabriele (Mahwah, N.J./Don Bosco) took sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.29). Fairchild, Gabriele, freshman John Livezey (Newtown Square, Pa./Homeschooled) and junior C.P. Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) earned sixth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:40.39.
Sophomore Ben Satre (Hockessin, Del./Homeschooled) placed seventh in the 200 butterfly (2:07.34).
Grove City will return to action November 29 at the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational.
