Grove City humbles W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team improved to 2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday by picking up a 149-132 win over homestanding Washington & Jefferson at the Henry Memorial Center Pool.

Senior Ian Smyth (Troy, Pa./Troy) helped lead Grove City by earning a pair of individual victories. He won the 200 free in 1 minute, 51.71 seconds and then took the 200 back in 2:07.50.

Meanwhile, junior C.P. Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) won the 100 free in 49.88 and freshman Jordan Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) captured the 50 in 22.49 seconds.

Sophomore Ben Satre (Hockessin, Del./Homeschooled) won the 200 butterfly (2:06.01) while freshman Tim Bergquist (Kent, Wash./Kentridge) took the 100 breaststroke in 58.76. Junior Noah Walker (Lexington, Ky./Homeschooled) won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:25.91.

C.P. Dehli, Jordan Dehli, senior Adam Walker (Lexington, Ky./Homeschooled) and junior Louis Gabriele (Mahwah, N.J./Don Bosco) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay (1:42.20). C.P. Dehli, Jordan Dehli, Smyth and sophomore Caleb McKusick (Waconia, Minn./Homeschooled) closed the meet by posting the top time (exhibition) in the 400 free relay (3:20.39).

Grove City will host Denison next Saturday at 1 p.m. in a non-conference dual meet.
