Grove City downs Bethany in finale
GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City
College men’s swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2012-13 regular season
Saturday afternoon with a 103-46 win over visiting Bethany in Presidents’
Athletic Conference dual-meet action at the James E. Longnecker Invitational.
Grove City athletes recorded the top
performance in 13 events Saturday.
The quartet of freshman Nick Wargo
(Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley), senior Josiah Douglas (Sayre,
Pa./Sayre), senior Dan Henley (Wheaton, Ill./Cleveland, Tenn.) and freshman
Dillon Irwin (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) opened the meet by winning the 200
medley relay in 1 minute, 47.81 seconds.
Junior Dave Bossert (Colorado
Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) won the 400 individual medley in a time of 4:29.62
while junior E.J. Leuschner (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) took the 200 free
in 1:50.48.
Sophomore Grant Wilt (Bellefonte,
Pa./Bellefonte) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.81 while freshman Josh Blasdell
(Leesburg, Va./Homeschooled) captured the 200 butterfly (2:26.10).
Freshman Benjamin Marasco
(Washington, Pa./Washington) won the 50 free (24.32) and sophomore diver Richie
Klimek (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) prevailed in 1-meter diving with 190.20
points.
Leuschner posted the top time in the
100 free on an exhibition basis, 51.78. Wilt touched first in the 200
breaststroke (2:26.20) while Bossert did likewise in the 1650 (17:50.19).
Freshman Stephen Cratsa (Penn Hills,
Pa./Penn Hills) touched first in the 100 butterfly in 58.92. Wargo, Leuschner,
Henley and Bossert concluded the meet with an exhibition time of 1:35.23 in the
200 free relay.
Grove City returns to action February
13-16 when it hosts the James E. Longnecker Invitational in conjunction with the
conference championships.
