Grove City tops SUNY-Fredonia on Senior Day

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team used a 1-2-3 finish in the 400 individual medley to secure the victory as the Wolverines defeated visiting SUNY-Fredonia 161-136 in non-conference action in the James E. Longnecker Pool on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Louis Gabriele (Mahwah, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) took part in three victories to lead the Wolverines (4-7) while freshmen Drew Nosbisch (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) and Jeremy Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) each earned a pair of victories.

Gabriele swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 1:00.85 and the 200 in 2:17.52, while teaming with senior Christian Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River), Nosbisch and sophomore Jordan Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) for the 200 medley relay victory (1:38.93).

Nosbisch added a win in the 100 freestyle (49.82) while Kim won the distance events, taking the 500 freestyle in 4:54.75 and the 1000 in 10:20.23.

Senior E.J. Leuschner (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) earned the victory in the 200 freestyle (1:49.40) and junior Ben Satre won the 200 butterfly (2:03.41). Senior Noah Walker (Lexington, Ky./Homeschooled) led the Grove City sweep of the top three spots in the 400 IM, winning with a time of 4:22.84 to finish ahead of Kim and senior Dave Bossert (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek).

During the meet, the Wolverines honored their six seniors- Dave Bossert, Christian Dehli, Gabriele, Leuschner, Walker and Jay Wallen (Hudson, Ohio/Homeschooled).

Grove City will travel to Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Westminster on Thursday for a 6 p.m. meet.
