Wolverines top Bethany in finale

BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team closed the 2013-14 regular season Saturday afternoon by picking up a 148-122 win at Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Hummel Field House.

Four Grove City performers each earned two wins Saturday. Junior Grant Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) won the 400 individual medley in 4 minutes, 35.44 seconds and then won the 500 in 5:11.80.

Freshman Jake Marino (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) took the 100 backstroke in 57.40 seconds and won the 200 backstroke in 2:08.49. Classmate Josiah Vehrs (Fresno, Calif./Homeschooled) took the 100 free (50.97) and 200 free (1:55.28) while sophomore Stephen Cratsa (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) prevailed in the 200 butterfly (2:10.24) and the 1650 (18:12.84).

Sophomore Tim Bergquist (Kent, Wash./Kentridge) took the 200 breaststroke (2:21.30). He joined Marino, sophomore Jordan Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) and sophomore Josh Blasdell (Leesburg, Va./Homeschooled) on Grove City's victorious 400 medley relay (3:51.10).

Grove City will host the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships as part of the College's James E. Longnecker Invitational February 12-15.
