Grove City extends lead
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team extended its lead to 71 points at the College's James E. Longnecker Invitational/Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships Friday night during the second night of competition in the three-day event. Grove City now has 520 team points while second place Westminster has 449 points. Washington & Jefferson sits third with 322 points.
Grove City bookended Friday night's finals by taking second in both relay events. The quartet of sophomore Jim Bossert (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek), senior Louis Gabriele (Mahwah, N.J./Don Bosco Prep), freshman Drew Nosbisch (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) and junior Caleb McKusick (Waconia, Minn./Homeschooled) opened the session by posting a runner-up time of 1 minute, 35.15 seconds in the 200 medley relay.
Bossert, Nosbisch, freshman Jeremy Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) and senior E.J. Leuschner (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) closed Friday's action by earning second place in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:01.51.
Gabriele also took second in the 100 breaststroke (58.52) while Nosbisch placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.03 seconds. Junior Ben Satre (Hockessin, Del./Homeschooled) finished third in the 100 fly (52.07), one spot ahead of senior C.P. Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River). Dehli recorded a fourth-place time of 52.54.
Kim captured third in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.80 while Leuschner earned fifth in that event (1:45.57). Bossert took fourth in the 100 backstroke (53.22).
Also for Grove City, senior Noah Walker (Lexington, Ky./Homeschooled) took fourth in the 400 individual medley (4:14.71) and senior Dave Bossert (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) placed fifth in the 400 IM (4:15.03).
Saturday's preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. The finals start at 5:30 p.m.
