Wolverines open season at Clarion

CLARION, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team opened the 2014-15 season Saturday by taking second place at the Clarion University Fall Classic. The Wolverines accumulated 139 team points. Clarion finished with 170.

Grove City earned a pair of relay victories Saturday. Sophomore Jake Marino (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford), sophomore Daniel Peng (Indiana, Pa./Indiana), freshman Brett Gwynn (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield) and junior Jordan Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1 minute, 41.06 seconds.

Dehli, Gwynn, sophomore Drew Nosbisch (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) and senior Caleb McKusick (Waconia, Minn./Homeschooled) closed the meet by winning the 400 free relay in 3:22.92.

Nosbisch also earned two individual victories. He won the 200 free in 1:50.54 and then took the 100 fly in 55.21. McKusick took the 100 free in 51.19 while sophomore Jeremy Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) prevailed in the butterfly (2:04.83).

Grove City opens its dual meet schedule October 25 against visiting Allegheny. The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
