Kim, Nosbisch lead Grove City at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Sophomore Jeremy Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) won three individual events and fellow sophomore Drew Nosbisch (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) earned a pair of individual wins and helped the Wolverines to two relay victories as the Grove City College men's swimming and diving team opened 2015 with a 164-123 victory over Washington & Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference Center on Saturday afternoon in the Henry Memorial Natatorium.

Nosbisch teamed with sophomore Jake Marino (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford), sophomore Daniel Peng (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) and senior Caleb McKusick (Waconia, Minn./Homeschooled) to open the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay in 1:39.83. Kim then earned his first individual win of the day by taking the 1650 by more than 12 seconds with a victorious time of 17:56.62.

The Presidents earned 1-2 finishes in both the 200 free and 100 back to tie the score at 37-37 through four events, but the Wolverines retook the lead in the 100 breast, as Peng won the event in 1:04.11 to lead a 1-3-5 finish for the Wolverines. Grove City then followed with a sweep of the top three spots in the 200 fly as Kim won his second individual event to go with strong finishes from sophomore Randon Hoselton (Naples, N.Y./Naples Central) and junior Stephen Cratsa (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills).

Junior Jordan Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) wrapped up the first half of competition for the Wolverines with a win in the 50 free (22.40) to give Grove City a 78-53 lead through the first diving break.

Nosbisch earned the win in the 100 free in 49.08 and, after the Presidents made up a little ground in the 200 back, senior Jim Bossert came from behind to earn a key victory in the 200 breast in 2:23.59. After Andrew Kisak (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) took second in the 500 free, Nosbisch (53.85), Peng (57.04) and junior Josh Blasdell (Leesburg, Va./Homeschooled) all but sealed the Grove City win with a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 fly.

Kim earned his third win of the day by holding off W&J's Nick Willison in the 400 IM (4:30.41), and Dehli, sophomore Sean McPhillips (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle), Peng and Nosbisch closed the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay in a pool-record time of 1:28.68.

Grove City returns to action next Saturday when they visit SUNY-Fredonia for a 1 p.m. non-conference matchup.
