Grove City 2nd after first night
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving is in second place after the opening night of the James E. Longnecker Invitational/Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships. Thursday night, the Wolverines accumulated 197.5 team points. Westminster leads with 226.5 points while Washington & Jefferson is third at 166.
Grove City opened Thursday night's finals by winning the 200 free relay in 1 minute, 24.10 seconds. Sophomore Drew Nosbisch (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), sophomore Daniel Peng (Indiana, Pa./Indiana), junior Jordan Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) and senior Caleb McKusick (Waconia, Minn./Homeschooled) combined for the victory.
Sophomore Jeremy Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) won the 500 free in 4:38.12 while senior Jim Bossert (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) captured the 200 individual medley in 1:54.06.
Dehli took third in the 50 free with a time of 20.77 seconds, which provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Division III Championships. Nosbisch earned fourth in the 50 (20.94). Bossert, Kim, Nosbisch and McKusick closed the night with a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay (3:29.57).
In 3-meter diving, senior Mac Clyde (Mars, Pa./Mars) placed third with a score of 297.05 points.
The three-day meet resumes Friday at 10 a.m. with preliminaries. Finals are scheduled for 6 p.m.
