Grove City takes 2nd
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team concluded the 2015 James E. Longnecker Invitational/Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships Saturday night by finishing second overall with 582.5 team points. Westminster won the meet with 827.5 team points.
Sophomore Jeremy Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) led Grove City's effort Saturday night by winning the 200 butterfly in 1 minute, 52.77 seconds. Kim provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with that performance.
Grove City closed the meet by taking second in the 400 free relay. Sophomore Drew Nosbisch (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), sophomore Josiah Vehrs (Fresno, Calif./Homeschooled), senior Jim Bossert (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) and senior Caleb McKusick (Waconia, Minn./Homeschooled) combined for a runner-up time of 3:07.67.
Nosbisch also took third in the 100 free (46.64) while Bossert placed third in the 200 breaststroke (2:07.79). Vehrs captured seventh in the 100 free (47.74).
Grove City won the conference title last season. The Wolverines have won the league in five of the last seven seasons overall.
