Grove City places 3rd
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2015-16 season Saturday night by placing third at the James E. Longnecker Invitational/Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, held on campus in the James E. Longnecker Pool.
Grove City concluded the three-day event with 536 team points. Westminster took first with 757 points while Washington & Jefferson claimed second with 550 points.
Junior Jeremy Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) helped lead the Grove City effort by winning the 200 butterfly in 1 minute, 54.38 seconds.
Grove City closed the meet by taking third in the 400 free relay as senior Jordan Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River), sophomore Andrew Kisak (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic), sophomore Brett Gwynn (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield) and junior Josiah Vehrs (Fresno, Calif./Homeschooled) combined for a time of 3:12.29.
Freshman Rhys Dickhudt (Troy, Mich./Bloomfield Christian) earned fourth in the 200 butterfly (1:55.35) while senior Tim Bergquist (Kent, Wash./Kentridge) placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.96). Junior Randon Hoselton (Naples, N.Y./Naples Central) took sixth in the 200 fly (2:00.30).
Sophomore Samuel Archibald (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) earned fifth in 1-meter driving with 269.60 points while freshman Matt Schallus (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seneca Valley) took sixth with 265.90 points.
A handful of Grove City athletes will compete in the Kenyon Last Chance Meet next Saturday in Gambier, Ohio.
