GROVE CITY, PA, January 29, 2000--A pair of Wolverines won three individual events each as Grove City sealed its 49th consecutive winning season with a 113-103 victory over visiting Baldwin-Wallace Saturday at the College Pool.

Steve Johnston (North Wales, PA/North Penn) captured first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.44), 200 individual medley (2:06.18) and 200 backstroke (2:03.16), while Luke Downer (Daytona Beach, FL/Warner Christian) won the 1,000 freestyle (10:19.97), 500 free (4:48.26) and 100 free (:50.78).

Bob Young (Glenshaw, PA/Shaler) added a first-place swim in the 50 free (:22.91), David Peters touched first in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.93) and Scott Jones (Naples, FL/Barron Collier) won the 200 butterfly (2:09.54).

Trent Wilson (Cranberry Twp., PA/Seneca Valley), Chris Treter (Cranberry Twp., PA/Seneca Valley), Britt Pratt (Salem, OR/Sprague) and Jones opened the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay (3:55.71).

Grove City closed its dual meet slate at 5-3 overall.  The streak of 49 straight winning seasons began in 1951-52. 

Wilson and Peters, the only Wolverine seniors,  were honored during the meet in a Senior Recognition Day ceremony.

Grove City will now prepare for the GCC Invitational Swimming and Diving Championships, February 17-19.
