GCC Splits Season Opener Meet Results PITTSBURGH, PA, November 1, 1999--The Wolverine swimming and diving team opened its 1999-2000 schedule Monday with a 113-85 win over Gannon University and a 144-73 loss to host Carnegie Mellon University. Steve Johnston (North Wales, PA/North Penn) posted a first place swim against both Gannon and CMU in the 100-yard backstroke (:56.19) and defeated Gannon in both 200 IM (2:07.38) and 200 freestyle (1:49.91). Luke Downer (Daytona Beach, FL/Warner Christian) was an outright winner in his collegiate debut, touching first in the 1,000 freestyle (10:27.38). Downer also took first against Gannon in the 500 free (5:07.95). |
