Grove City rolls to fourth
straight victory
GROVE CITY, PA, April 6, 2002--Sophomore Patrick Donahue (Lafayette,
IN/Lafayette Jefferson) improved to 9-2 on the season at first singles with a
6-1, 6-0 victory as the Wolverine tennis team eased past visiting Westminster,
7-2, on a frigid Saturday afternoon at the College Courts.
Freshman Phil Springirth (Erie, PA/Harborcreek) moved his singles mark to 8-3 with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2. Senior Nick Zapf (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) rallied from 0-6 in the first set to win a super tiebreaker 10-5 at third singles, while freshman Andrew Geisler (Bradford, PA/Bradford) boosted his stellar mark at sixth singles to 10-1 with a 6-4, 6-4 win.
Grove City, winner of four in a row and seven of its last eight matches, improved to 8-3 overall.
