Middlebury tops Grove City

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Grove City College men's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 12 Middlebury Saturday afternoon in the regional semifinal round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament at Johns Hopkins University. Grove City closes the season with an 11-3 spring record and a 12-5 overall mark.

Middlebury (14-6) won all three doubles matches and then clinched the overall victory by taking a pair of singles bouts. Middlebury will face Johns Hopkins Sunday in the regional final.

Grove City went 1-1 at the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. The match marked the final competition for head coach Joe Walters, who is retiring at the end of the 2011-12 academic year. The Wolverines have posted double-digit win totals in nine of the last 12 seasons.
