Grove City track teams compete at ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Grove City College men's and women's track and field teams posted a number of strong showings at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Springfield College's Blake Track and Field on Thursday and Friday.

Junior distance standout Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) led all Wolverine competitors by taking second in the 10,000-meter run with a school-record time of 36:09.35. Rabenold's time bested her own previous record by nearly five seconds and currently ranks 18th among all NCAA Division III runners.

Junior Eliza Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) also recorded a scoring finish for the Grove City women by taking seventh place in the 400 hurdles. Lowe's time of 1:03.27 broke her own school record by nearly a second.

Sophomore Nick Betz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon) led the Wolverine men by finishing fifth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.79 seconds - just .01 seconds off his own school record. Freshman Evan Carroscia (Streetsboro, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) took 10th in the 400 hurdles with a season-best time of 55.10 seconds while Grove City's 4x800 relay of junior Josh Dunsworth (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy), sophomore Gabe Imhof (Strasburg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite), sophomore Ryan Buchalter (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian) and freshman Graham Allen (Upper Dublin, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) finished 25th with a time of 8:02.12.

Rabenold teamed with sophomore Liv Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock), junior Stevie Huston (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe) and junior Anna Cessar (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) to finish 16th in the 4x800 relay in 9:55.81 while Lowe partnered with sophomore Lauren Pearce (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville), sophomore Allison Blain (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) and sophomore Sarah Williamson (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) for a 20th-place showing in the 4x100 relay in 50.09 seconds.

Blain, Pearce, junior Adrienne Scrima (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) and Lowe took 22nd in the 4x400 relay in 4:07.02.

Sophomore Melanie Packard (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry), the lone other individual competitor for the Wolverine women, finished 24th in the pole vault by clearing 3.27 meters.

Rabenold will await a possible invitation to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 10,000. The top 22 female competitors in each event are selected. The national meet will be held May 21-23 in Canton, N.Y.
