Grove City competes in PAC North Quad

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's track and field team competed in the Presidents' Athletic Conference North Quad Meet at Westminster College's Memorial Field Wednesday afternoon. Grove City accumulated 52 points on the afternoon. Host Westminster earned 82 points while Saint Vincent tallied 10.

Five Grove City athletes earned wins in the meet, including three on the track. Junior John Fite (Sunnyvale, Calif./Ad Fontes) won the 800 in 2 minutes, 0.85 seconds. Senior Frankie Hourigan (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) captured the 1500 in 4:16.30 while sophomore Ben Lutz (Sykesville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) won the 3000 steeplechase in 10:42.20.

Two Grove City throwers earned wins Wednesday. Senior Matt Ridge (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) won the shot put with a best mark of 50 feet, 2 3/4 inches. Classmate Matt Six (Akron, Ohio/Manchester) won the discus with a best throw of 154 feet, 10 inches.

Grove City will return to action Saturday at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Invitational.
