Grove City 2nd at North Quad

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's track and field team placed second at the Presidents' Athletic Conference North Quad Tuesday night at Geneva College. The Wolverines recorded 169 team points. Westminster won the event with 195 points. Geneva (124) and Thiel (66) rounded out the field.

Five Grove City athletes earned victories in the meet. Senior David Ferreira (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) earned wins in both the long and triple jumps. He won the long jump with a best mark of 20 feet, 2 inches. Ferreira also won the triple jump with a leap of 41-8.

Sophomore John Green (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) won the 400 in 51.79 seconds while sophomore Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) won the 5000 in 16:25.36.

Senior Ben Lutz (Sykesville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) prevailed in the 3000 steeplechase in 10:32.49 and freshman Ethan Witmer (North Lima, Ohio/South Range) won the 110 high hurdles in 17.16 seconds.

Witmer, Green, junior Patrik Miller (Berlin, Ohio/Berlin Hiland) and sophomore Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) closed the meet by winning the 1600 relay in 3:29.78.

The Wolverines will return to action Saturday at the Indiana (Pa.) Invitational.
