Grove City wins North Quad

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's track and field team captured first place in the four-team Presidents' Athletic Conference North Quad Thursday night at Geneva College's Merriman Complex. The Wolverines tallied 216 team points to hold off Geneva (168) and Westminster (162). Thiel took fourth with 54 points.

Four Grove City performers recorded individual victories. Senior Josiah Douglas (Sayre, Pa./Sayre) won the 110 high hurdles in 16.79 seconds and junior John Green (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) prevailed in the 400 hurdles with a winning time of 56.06 seconds. Junior Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) won the 5000 in 16:09.03.

Grove City closed the meet by winning the 1600-meter relay as Green, sophomore Ethan Witmer (North Lima, Ohio/South Range), freshman Jake Purvis (Colorado Springs, Colo./Classical Academy) and senior Patrik Miller (Berlin, Ohio/Hiland) recorded a winning time of 3:28.21.

Senior Andrew Munro (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) led Grove City's field contingent by winning the javelin with a best throw of 167 feet, 4 inches.

The Wolverines return to action April 26-27 for the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in Washington, Pa.
