Wolverines open 2014 slate
CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's track and field team opened its 2014 schedule Saturday by participating in the unscored California (Pa.) University Early Bird Invitational.
Senior Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) led Grove City's effort by winning the 3000 steeplechase in 10 minutes, 18.30 seconds.
Three Grove City athletes posted runner-up finishes. Freshman Nick Betz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon) earned second in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.42 seconds. Senior John Green (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) placed second in the 400 in 49.82 seconds.
Junior Jason Glacken (South Fork, Pa./Forest Hills) led Grove City's field performers by earning second place in the discus with a best throw of 130 feet, 2 inches.
Grove City will host Geneva next Saturday at Robert E. Thorn Field.
