Grove City fares well at home meet

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's track and field team recorded nine victories Saturday at its own tri-meet at Robert E. Thorn Field. The Wolverines hosted Geneva and also welcomed Chatham on the women's side.

Freshman Nick Betz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon) earned a pair of wins for Grove City by sweeping the hurdle events. He won the 110 high hurdles in 15.49 seconds and then won the 400 hurdles in 58.75 seconds.

Senior John Green (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) won the 400 meters in 51.72 seconds while senior Matt Logie (West Chester, Pa./Delaware County Christian) took the 800 in 2:02.37. Senior Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) prevailed in the 1500 (4:20.50) and freshman Daniel Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Frederick) captured the 5000 in 15:44.29.

Betz, Green, freshman Ryan Buchalter (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian) and freshman Jacob Zeltman (Kidron, Ohio/Dalton) won the 1600 relay with a victorious time of 3:32.12.

Junior Jason Glacken (South Fork, Pa./Forest Hills) won the shot put with a best effort of 41 feet, 4 inches. Sophomore Tom Kocur (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) cleared six feet in winning the high jump.

Grove City will compete in the Slippery Rock Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
