Grove City 5th at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's indoor track and field team placed fifth out of 15 squads Friday night at Baldwin Wallace University's Mid-February Meet. The Wolverines accumulated 51 team points on the evening. Buffalo State won the team crown with 124.5 points.

Two Grove City performers earned individual wins Friday night. Junior Nick Betz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon) captured the 55-meter hurdles in 7.80 seconds while classmate Daniel Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Frederick) captured the 5000 meters in 15:42.32.

Junior Ryan Buchalter (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian) earned second in the 400 meters (51.13). Betz added a fourth-place finish in the 200 (23.50).

Sophomore Nick McClure (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) took fifth in the 5000 (16:36.08), one spot ahead of sophomore Bryce Nelson (Avonmore, Pa./Kiski Area). Nelson recorded a sixth-place time of 16:52.73.

Junior Andrew Mascio (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) took sixth in the 1000 with a time of 2:46.94.

Junior Mike Cole (Leesburg, Va./Flint Hill) led Grove City's field athletes by taking sixth in the triple jump with a program record leap of 40 feet, 5 1/2 inches. Sophomore Connor Lowe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) earned ninth in the shot put (41-10 1/2). Senior Josh Dunsworth (Erie, Pa./Strong Vincent) took ninth in the 800 (2:02.87).

Grove City returns to action February 25 at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in Youngstown, Ohio.
