Wolverines take 9th at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's track and field team placed ninth out of 15 teams Friday night at Baldwin Wallace University's Mid-February Meet. The Wolverines accumulated 44 team points in the meet.

Freshman Graham Allen (Upper Dublin, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) helped lead Grove City's effort by winning the 800 meters in 1 minute, 59.62 seconds. Allen, sophomore Nick Betz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon), junior Brandon Ward (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) and sophomore Ryan Buchalter (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian) closed the meet by earning runner-up in the 1600 relay with a time of 3:32.93.

Betz also took second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.78 seconds. Buchalter earned third in the 400 (51.99).

Ward, senior Thomas Whittaker (Grove City, Pa./Grove City), freshman Chase Stout (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) and junior Jonah Meyer (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) took third in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:38.72.

Sophomore Mike Cole (Leesburg, Va./Flint Hill) took sixth in the triple jump with a best leap of 40 feet, 4 1/2 inches.

Grove City returns to action February 21 at West Virginia University's Blue-Gold Invitational.
