Allen leads Wolverines to PAC North Quad win

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Freshman Graham Allen (Upper Dublin, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) earned two of the Grove City College men's track team's four event wins on the day and several other Wolverines produced strong performances as Grove City rolled to the team title at the Presidents' Athletic Conference North Quad Meet on a rainy Thursday evening at Geneva College's Merriman Athletic Complex.

Grove City accumulated 252 points on the day to finish ahead of host Geneva (158.5), Thiel (70) and Westminster (69.5).

Allen won the 1500 in 4:10.17 and then, on a quick turnaround, captured the victory in the 800 with a time of 2:02.13. Sophomore Ryan Buchalter (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian) edged out Westminster's Jake Dindak by .01 to win the 400 in 51.38 seconds while fellow sophomore Daniel Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Frederick) won the 5000 in a meet-record time of 15:58.60.

Junior Jonah Meyer (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) finished just .01 behind Geneva's Cameron Unrath to take second in the 200 in 23.44 seconds while junior Joshua Dunsworth (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) joined Allen for a 1-2 Grove City finish in the 800 with a time of 2:03.71. Christiansen and sophomore Gabe Imhof (Strasburg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) finished second (4:12.81) and third (4:17.81) behind Allen in the 1500, and sophomores Brandon Wise (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and Andrew Mascio (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) joined Christiansen for a 1-2-3 finish in the 5,000, taking second (16:27.80) and third (16:54.15), respectively.

Junior Dane Mossgrove (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) took second in the 400 hurdles (57.97) while senior Thomas Whittaker (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) joined Buchalter in the 400 with a third-place time of 52.07. Mascio and freshman Drew Thibault (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) rounded out Grove City's top finishers in the running events by taking second (10:35.50) and third (10:38.40), respectively, in the 3,000 steeplechase.

Junior Tom Kocur (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) led Grove City's jumping contingent with a runner-up finish in the high jump (1.80m) while sophomore Nate Henry (Mays Landing, N.J./ACIT) added third-place showings in both the long jump (5.85m) and the triple jump (12.29m).

Freshman Connor Lowe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) took second in the discus with a best mark of 36.57 meters to lead Grove City's throwers while freshman Quinton Reed (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) and senior Hayden Faust (Kempton, Pa./Kutztown) took second (50.45m) and third (46.44m) in the javelin. Senior Jason Glacken (South Fork, Pa./Forest Hills) finished third in the shot put with a top mark of 12.94 meters.

Grove City will return to action on April 24-25 when it hosts the 2015 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships at Robert E. Thorn Field.
