Grove City runs close second at Notre Dame
SOUTH EUCLID, OH, September 15, 2001--The Wolverine cross country team placed second at the five-school Notre Dame College Invitational Saturday in South Euclid, OH.
Grove City junior Ryan Mitchell (Dayton, OH/Centerville) placed second overall in the field of 53 runners with a team-best time of 27:46, 10 seconds behind meet champion Jacob Gleason of Westminster College. Senior Josh Bolinger (Warren, OH/Lakeview) was a close third, crossing in 28:00. Freshman Derek Yoder (Mercersburg, PA/James Buchanan) turned in a seventh-place finish in 28:16. Other top times were clocked by sophomore Steve Brown (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Twp.), who finished 11th in 28:24; freshman Daniel Adams (Derwood, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder), who placed 12th in 28:34; junior Derek Stauff (Quakertown, PA/Conrad Weiser), who was 13th in 28:41; and freshman Chris Lee (Pompton Plains, NJ/Trinity Christian), who took 14th in 28:45.
Westminster (27) won the meet, followed by Grove City (35), Cuyahoga Community College (84), Notre Dame (115) and Thiel College (132).
