GCC men take eighth at Lehigh
BETHLEHEM, PA, October 6, 2001--In its first of two trips to the Lehigh Valley this fall, the Grove City College men's cross country team placed eighth among 17 Division III schools at the 28th Lehigh University Paul Short Run, which annually attracts the best teams in the region. In all, 62 schools from all three NCAA divisions were represented.
Junior Ryan Mitchell (Dayton, OH/Centerville) was the first Wolverine to cross the finish line, placing 18th among Division III runners in 27:07.49. Also scoring for GCC were junior Brad Wray (Lewistown, PA/Indian Valley), who took 45th in 27:58.64, sophomore Steve Brown (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township), who finished 50th in 28:02.84, freshman Daniel Adams (Derwood, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder), who placed 52nd in 28:11.62, and junior Derek Stauff (Quakertown, PA/Conrad Weiser), who crossed 53rd in 28:12.11. Sophomore Jacob Anderson (Duluth, MN/Duluth East) and freshman Chris Lee (Pompton Plains, NJ/Trinity Christian) placed 54th and 59th, respectively, in 28:12.94 and 28:34.05.
The Wolverines will return to Lehigh for the Mid East Regional Championship on Nov. 10.
