GCC men claim 12th straight PAC title

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA, October 27, 2001--The Grove City College men's cross country team secured its 12th straight Presidents' Athletic Conference championship title on Saturday as Wolverines filled the top six places at cold, muddy Shamrock Golf Course in Slippery Rock, PA. 

Junior Ryan Mitchell (Dayton, OH/Centerville) captured first place and earned the league's MVP award with a time of 28:20.  

Four other Wolverines finished in the Top Five to claim a spot on the PAC First Team.  Senior Josh Bolinger (Warren, OH/Lakeview) took second in 28:50, freshman Dan Adams (Derwood, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder) placed third in 29:03, junior Brad Wray (Lewistown, PA/Indian Valley) crossed fourth in 29:08 and sophomore Jacob Anderson (Duluth, MN/Duluth East) was fifth in 29:14.

Sophomore Steve Brown (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Twp.) capped the 1-6 sweep with a time of 29:26 and earned PAC second-team honors.  

Junior Derek Stauff (Quakertown, PA/Conrad Weiser) finished 22 seconds outside the Top 10 with a 12th-place time of 31:25. 

Grove City won the championship with a perfect score of 15 points, followed by Washington & Jefferson College (64), Bethany College (66) and Thiel College (100).

Wolverine head coach Allison Williams was named PAC Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.
