Wolverines place 13th overall at regionals

BETHLEHEM, PA, November 10, 2001--Presidents' Athletic Conference MVP Ryan Mitchell (Dayton, OH/Centerville) placed 29th in a field of 220 runners Saturday, leading the Grove City College men's cross country team to a 13th-place finish out of 31 schools at the 2001 NCAA Mideast Regional at Lehigh University.

Mitchell's time of 26:48.05 earned the junior a spot on the All-Mideast Team, which comprises the meet's top 35 finishers.

Junior Brad Wray (Lewistown, PAIndian Valley) was the next Wolverine to cross, placing 63rd overall with a time of 27:39.04.  Senior Josh Bolinger (Warren, OH/Lakeview) finished close behind, taking 69th place in 27:44.73.

Junior Derek Stauff (Quakertown, PA/Conrad Weiser) and sophomore Jack Anderson (Duluth, MN/Duluth East) also scored for Grove City, placing 77th and 85th, respectively, with times of 27:54.67 and 28:02.54.

Freshman Daniel Adams (Derwood, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder) clocked a 90th-place time of 28:07.67, while sophomore Steve Brown (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Twp.) closed in 102nd place in 28:15.78.

Haverford won the meet with 22 points, followed by Elizabethtown (78), Dickinson (109), Carnegie Mellon (129), Widener (164), Messiah (182), Allegheny (187), Muhlenberg (220), Swarthmore (256), Scranton (290), Susquehanna (306), Gettysburg (307) and Grove City (318).
