Wolverine men pull out PAC championship

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team earned its 13th consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference championship Saturday afternoon at Washington and Jefferson College. The Wolverine thinclads earned 29 team points, holding off Westminster, which had 31 points.

Senior Ryan Mitchell (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) claimed the individual championship, winning by nearly 16 seconds. Mitchell completed the course in 28:31.25. Junior Steve Brown (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) placed fourth in 28:59.49 while Dan Adams (Derwood, Md./Col. Zaduk Magruder) placed fifth in 29:17.44.

Also for Grove City, Brad Wray (McClure, Pa./Indian Valley) took ninth in 29:37.52 and Nick Gingerich (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) followed in 10th, one second later. Jack Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) arrived in 12th place, posting a time of 29:57.24. Dustin Dimit (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) rounded out Grove City's effort, placing 20th.

Mitchell, Brown and Adams earned First Team honors from the conference while Wray, Gingerich and Anderson were Second Team honorees.
