Grove City men place 3rd at Behrend meet
ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team placed third out of eight teams at the Penn State Behrend Invitational Saturday in Erie.
The Wolverines trailed only nationally-ranked Mount Union (34 points) and Division II entry Mercyhurst (41). Grove City earned 88 total points.
Senior Steve Brown (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) paced Grove City with a fourth-place finish in the field of 93 runners, posting a time of 27 minutes, 26 seconds. Dan Adams (Derwood, Md./Col. Zaduk Magruder) finished 17th in 28:14 while 19th-place Chris Lee (Pompton Plains, N.J./Trinity Christian) came home eight seconds later.
Sophomore Dan Chittick (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) finished 21st in a time of 28:31 while senior Nick Gingerich (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) was 27th in 28:47.
In addition, freshman Erik Johnson (Waterboro, Maine, Massabese) took 31st (29:01) while senior Jack Anderson (Duluth, Minn/Duluth East) finished 32nd (29:02). Freshman Andy Leuenberger (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) placed 34th in 29:13.
