Kloes captures conference crown as Grove City repeats

BETHANY, W. Va. -- Five Grove City College men's cross country runners place in the top six Saturday at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, vaulting the Wolverines to their 14th straight PAC title. The Wolverines earned the minimum 15 points, holding off Westminster (50), Waynesburg (73) and Thiel (112).

Sophomore Andrew Kloes (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) captured the individual title by covering the 8-kilometer course in 27 minutes, 54.5 seconds. Junior Dan Chittick (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) took third in 28:58.5, one spot ahead of senior Chris Lee (Pompton Plains, N.J./Trinity Christian).

Sophomore Andy Leuenberger (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) finished fifth in a time of 29:38.3, one place ahead of classmate Erik Johnson (Waterboro, Maine/Massabese). Johnson turned in a time of 29:38.8. Kloes, Chittick, Lee and Leuenberger all earned First Team All-PAC honors while Johnson earned Second Team recognition.

Freshman Greg Kroleski (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) placed 11th in a time of 30:15.4. Freshman Daniel Croce (Creekside, Pa./Marion Center) took 16th in 31:30 while rookie Sean Noe (Durham, Maine/Brunswick) placed 17th (31:36.5).

Sophomore Sam Magee (Exeter, N.H./Portsmouth Christian) also earned a top-20 finish, taking 19th with a time of 31:52.9.

Grove City will compete in the NCAA Mideast Regional at Allegheny College Nov. 13.
