Wolverines take 19th at Mideast Regional

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team closed the 2004 season Saturday with a 19th-place finish at the 34-team NCAA Mideast Regional, hosted by Allegheny College. Grove City accumulated 490 team points. Haverford won the regional title with 53 points while Elizabethtown took second with 88.

Sophomore Andrew Kloes (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) led the Wolverines with a 43rd-place finish. Kloes covered the 8-kilometer course in a time of 27 minutes, 15 seconds.

Junior Dan Chittick (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) took 81st in 27:58 while sophomore Andy Leuenberger (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) took 106th in 28:25. Sophomore Erik Johnson (Waterboro, Maine/Massabese) finished 124th (28:38) while senior Chris Lee (Pompton Plains, N.J./Trinity Christian) took 136th in 28:58.

Freshmen Greg Kroleski (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) and Daniel Croce (Creekside, Pa./Marion Center) also competed in the meet. Kroleski took 138th in 29:03 while Croce was 180th in 29:59.

A total of 229 runners competed in the regional.
