Wolverines take 5th at Case Western
CLEVELAND -- The Grove City College men's cross country team opened the 2005 season with a fifth-place finish at the 10-team Case Western Reserve Bill Sudeck Classic Saturday afternoon.
Grove City accumulated 146 team points, trailing Allegheny (34), Mount Union (51), Case Western (81) and John Carroll (128).
Senior Daniel Chittick (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) led Grove City with a 23rd-place finish, posting a time of 28 minutes, 21.96 seconds. Sophomore Chris Andrew (Bow, N.H./Bow N.H.) took 24th in 28:24.56 while sophomore Joey Cortez (Ellwood City, Pa./Ellwood City Lincoln) placed 29th in a time of 28:33.95.
Junior Andrew Leuenbeger (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) took 33rd in 28:38.79 and junior Erik Johnson (Waterboro, Maine/Massabesic) placed 40th with a time of 29:04.87.
Grove City will compete in the Allegheny Invitational Sept. 17.
