Wolverines open season at Case Western

CLEVELAND -- The Grove City College men's cross country team opened the 2007 season Saturday by placing sixth at Case Western Reserve University's 11-team Sudeck Classic. Grove City accumulated 170 team points. Edinboro won the team title with 27 points while Allegheny finished second with 46 points.

Freshman Garrett Cichowitz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) led Grove City by placing 27th. Cichowitz covered the course in 27 minutes, 45.00 seconds. Junior Dan Spaulding (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) finished 42nd with a time of 28:28.52. Meanwhile, junior Nathan Johnson (Eugene, Ore./Sheldon) placed 46th in 28:37.00.

Also for Grove City, freshman Cordell Oberholtzer (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) took 51st in 28:50.00 while sophomore Frankie Hourigan (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) took 52nd in 28:50.88.

Allegheny's Ryan Place won the individual race with a time of 25:43.00.

Grove City will compete in the California University of Pennsylvania Invitational next Saturday, November 8.
