Wolverines compete at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team returned to action after a 20-day break Friday afternoon by competing in Lehigh University's Paul Short Invitational. Grove City placed 13th out of 39 complete teams in the "White" race, which featured NCAA Division II and Division III programs. The Wolverines accumulated 376 team points. Dickinson won the team title with 119 points.

Freshman Garrett Cichowitz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) led Grove City with a 33rd-place finish. Cichowitz completed the 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 52 seconds. Junior Nathan Johnson (Eugene, Ore./Sheldon) earned 62nd place by crossing in 27:32 while sophomore Frankie Hourigan (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) took 77th in 27:44.

Also for Grove City, senior Joey Cortez (Ellwood City, Pa./Ellwood City Lincoln) placed 95th with a time of 27:55. Freshman Gordon Grob (Hudson, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) took 109th in 28:08. Grove City placed ninth out of 32 NCAA Division III teams that participated.

Grove City will compete in the Slippery Rock Invitational next Saturday, October 6.
