Grove City places 4th at Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team captured fourth place at the Waynesburg University Invitational Saturday morning. The Wolverines accumulated 100 team points and trailed only Allegheny (27), Messiah (81) and Salisbury (83). Elizabethtown took fifth with 101 points.

Sophomore Garrett Cichowitz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) paced Grove City with a seventh-place finish. Cichowitz completed the 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 46 seconds. Senior Dan Spaulding (Spencerport, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) finished 12th in 26:55 while classmate Nathan Johnson (Eugene, Ore./Sheldon) placed 20th in a time of 27:24.

Also for Grove City, junior Frankie Hourigan (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) finished 22nd (27:29) and sophomore Joe Dorris (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Dublin) placed 39th in 28:08.

Allegheny junior Tony Dipre won the individual race in 25:57.

Grove City returns to action Friday, October 3 at Lehigh's Paul Short Invitational.
