Wolverines 2nd at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. -- Junior Garrett Cichowitz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) captured the individual title at the Saint Vincent Invitational Saturday morning, helping the Grove City College men's cross country team earn second place in the 13-team field.

Grove City finished with 60 team points. Saint Vincent, running on its home course, won the team title with 36 points.

Cichowitz completed the course in 26 minutes, 3 seconds and finished 12 seconds ahead of Saint Vincent's Kevin Wanichko. It is Cichowitz's second individual title of the season. He also won the season-opening California (Pa.) Invitational September 5.

Senior Derek Kruse (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) finished sixth in the 130-runner field with a time of 26:45 for Grove City. Two other Grove City runners placed in the top 20 Saturday. Freshman Josiah Husk (Bloomington, Ill./University) earned 16th place with a time of 27:23 while senior Frankie Hourigan (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) captured 17th place, also in 27:23.

Junior Cordell Oberholtzer (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) placed 32nd in 28:08 for the Wolverines.

Grove City will compete in the Pitt-Greensburg Invitational October 3.
