Grove City wins UPG Invitational

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team captured first place at the nine-team University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Invitational Saturday afternoon as the Wolverines accumulated a mere 26 points. Thiel finished second with 46 while Hiram took third with 95 points.

Grove City placed six runners in the top 15 Saturday, including medalist Garrett Cichowitz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer). Cichowitz, a junior, completed the course in 27 minutes, 3 seconds. He finished 75 seconds ahead of senior Derek Kruse (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal), who earned second place with a time of 28:18.

Senior Frankie Hourigan (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) earned fourth place with a time of 28:32 while freshman Josiah Husk (Bloomington, Ill./University) finished sixth in 28:44.

Senior Royce Hyland (Boise, Idaho/Boise) finished 13th overall in 29:34, edging 14th-place junior Cordell Oberholtzer (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) by one second.

Grove City will compete in the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble Saturday, October 17.
