Wolverines compete at Oberlin Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's cross country team placed 15th at the 28-team Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble Saturday afternoon as the Wolverines competed against some of the premier Division III cross country programs in the United States. The Wolverines earned 457 team points on the afternoon. New York University won the team title with 53 points.

Junior Garrett Cichowitz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) paced Grove City by finishing 23rd in the 243-runner field. He completed the 8-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 45 seconds.

Senior Frankie Hourigan (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) placed 62nd overall with a time of 26:25 while senior Derek Kruse (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) earned 104th with a 27:07 clocking.

Also for Grove City, freshman Josiah Husk (Bloomington, Ill./University) finished 117th in 27:16 and sophomore Tyler Gheres (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) took 151st (17:53).

Junior John Fite (Sunnyvale, Calif./Ad Fontes) finished 153rd (27:58), four spots ahead of classmate Cordell Oberholtzer (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata). Oberholtz posted a time of 28:01.

Allegheny's Chris Marker earned medalist honors with a victorious time of 24:46.

Grove City is off this week before competing in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships October 31 in Latrobe, Pa.
