Wolverines earn 6th

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team finished sixth overall out of 16 teams Saturday at Carnegie Mellon University's Pre-Regional Race, held at Cooper's Lake Campground. The Wolverines earned 186 team points in the event. Carnegie Mellon won the event with 33 points and Oberlin claimed second with 52 points.

Senior Garrett Cichowitz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) led Grove City with a third-place finish in the 198-runner field. He completed the 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 4 seconds.

Freshman Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) placed 41st overall in 27:45 while classmate Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) took 54th in 28:11. Freshman Alec Schultz (Wayzata, Minn./Orono) placed 61st (28:28) and sophomore Francis Ridge (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) captured 66th in 28:37.

Carnegie Mellon's Dan Addis won medalist honors with a victorious time of 25:41. Carnegie Mellon will host the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships November 13 at Cooper's Lake.

Grove City will compete in Lehigh University's Paul Short Invitational Friday afternoon in Bethlehem, Pa.
