Grove City takes 23rd at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Grove City College men’s cross country team took 23rd out of 34 teams at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble Saturday morning.

The Wolverines finished with 589 team points at the meet, which featured several of the country’s premier programs. Albion won the team title with 117 points.

Sophomore Alec Schultz (Wayzata, Minn./Orono) paced Grove City by finishing 70th overall with a time of 27 minutes, 6.3 seconds. Sophomore Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) finished 107th in 27:37.1.

Also for Grove City, junior Wesley Coopersmith (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) finished 127th (27:46.6), junior Tim Coyle (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) earned 136th (27:56.1) and junior Francis Ridge (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) finished 182nd in 28:25.0.

Junior Ben Henderson (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) came home 186th (28:29.0) and freshman Joey Clark (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) placed 192nd (28:30.9).

Franciscan’s Bill Jones won the individual race with a time of 25:23.3. Three-hundred fifteen runners competed in the race.

Grove City returns to action in two weeks at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships at Westminster College in New Wilmington.
