Grove City takes 23rd

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team concluded the 2011 season Saturday by finishing 23rd out of 51 teams at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships, hosted by DeSales University. The Wolverines finished the meet with 612 total points. Haverford won the team title with 52 points, followed by Dickinson (128) and Allegheny (131).

Alec Schultz (Wayzata, Minn./Orono) led Grove City by taking 101st in the 328-runner field. Schultz completed the eight-kilometer course in 27 minutes, 58 seconds.

Sophomore Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) earned 114th with a time of 28:10 while junior Wesley Coopersmith (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) took 126th in 28:17. Freshman Peter Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Homeschooled) captured 138th place in 28:30 and sophomore Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) took 149th (28:39).

Sophomore Paulson Domasky (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) finished 197th in 29:23 and junior Tim Coyle (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) placed 216th with a 29:44 clocking.

Allegheny's Bobby Over earned medalist honors with a victorious time of 25:25.

Haverford and Dickinson have automatically qualified for next week's NCAA Championships as the top two finishing teams in the meet.
