Grove City competes at Slippery Rock Invitational

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team placed fourth out of five teams Friday afternoon at Slippery Rock University Mack Cooper Invitational at Cooper's Lake.

Grove City finished with 101 team points, trailing Division II Wayne State (Mich.), Carnegie Mellon and Slippery Rock. Wayne State won the event with 29 points while CMU had 41 and SRU recorded 84 points.

Junior Alec Schultz (Wayzata, Minn./Orono) led Grove City by finishing 10th overall with a time of 26 minutes, 43.14 seconds. Junior Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) took 14th with a 27:04.04 clocking while junior Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) placed 25th in 27:15.68.

Senior Wesley Coopersmith (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) took 29th (27:23.68) while senior Tim Coyle (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) finished 46th (28:16.77). Junior Matt Mucha (Parma, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) took 47th with a time of 28:17.69.

Wayne State's Jimmy Maloney won the individual race in 25:44.08.

Grove City will compete in the Bethany Invitational Saturday, September 29.
