Wolverines win Bethany Invitational
BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team captured the team title at the seven-team Bethany College Invitational Saturday morning as the Wolverines accumulated just 26 team points. The Wolverines recorded a 43-point margin of victory over runner-up Waynesburg.
Eight Grove City runners placed in the top 13 overall. Junior Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) led the Wolverines with a second-place finish as he covered the course in 27 minutes, 12 seconds.
Senior Wesley Coopersmith (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) finished fourth in 27:24, one spot ahead of junior Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian). Talbott took fifth in 27:32.
Junior Alec Schultz (Wayzata, Minn./Orono) captured seventh place with a 28:18 clocking and senior Tim Coyle (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) took ninth (28:25).
Also for Grove City, junior Matt Mucha (Parma, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) earned 10th place (28:28), sophomore Joey Clark (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) placed 11th (28:48) and senior Francis Ridge (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) finished 13th with a time of 28:50.
Westminster junior Aaron Sutton earned medalist honors with a time of 26:58. Sixty runners competed in the meet.
Grove City will compete in the Gettysburg Invitational October 13.
