Grove City takes 2nd at conference meet

BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team placed second out of nine teams Saturday afternoon at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Bethany College. Grove City finished the meet with just 56 team points. Saint Vincent edged the Wolverines for the title, however, as the Bearcats had 44 points.

Junior Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) led Grove City by finishing fourth overall. He completed the eight-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 34 seconds. McRae earned First Team All-PAC by finishing in the top seven.

Three Wolverine runners earned Second Team All-PAC. Junior Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) finished ninth with a time of 27:00 while senior Wesley Coopersmith (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) took 11th in 27:19.

Senior Tim Coyle (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) joined Talbott and Coopersmith on the Second Team as he finished 13th. Coyle recorded a time of 27:45.

Senior Francis Ridge (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) placed 21st overall with a time of 28:10. Ridge earned Honorable Mention All-PAC.

Sophomore Joey Clark (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) earned 23rd place (28:18) and sophomore Peter Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Homeschooled) took 24th with a time of 28:22.

Washington & Jefferson's Scott Ryan won the individual race in 25:32.

The Wolverines will compete in the College of Wooster Twilight 5K November 2.
