Grove City captures 6th at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team opened the 2013 season Saturday by earning sixth place at the 14-team Lehigh Invitational. The Wolverines finished with 178 points. Lehigh won the team title with 29 points while La Salle took second with 38.

Five Grove City runners placed in the top 60. Senior Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) took 35th overall with a time of 20 minutes, 5.68 seconds for six kilometers. Junior Peter Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Broadfording Christian) placed 40th in 20:23.16, two spots ahead of freshman Dan Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Frederick). Dan Christiansen posted a time of 20:24.50.

Senior Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) earned 58th with a 20:45.36 clocking and classmate Matt Mucha (Parma, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) placed 60th with a time of 20:48.48.

Senior Matt Logie (West Chester, Pa./Delaware County Christian) finished 67th in 20:56.30 and freshman Brandon Wise (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) took 68th (20:56.33).

Lehigh's Ryan Mahalsky won the race with a victorious time of 18:46.75. A total of 184 runners competed in the event.

Grove City returns to action Friday, September 13 at the Penn State Invitational.
