McRae breaks school record; Wolverines 14th at NCAA Regional
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Senior Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield,
Mass./Whitinsville Christian) broke the Grove City College 8K record to lead the
Wolverines to a 14th-place finish in the 54-team NCAA Mideast Regional at Lehigh
University on Saturday afternoon.
McRae's time of 25:09 was good for 15th individually in
the 364-runner field and broke Garrett Cichowitz's record of 25:13.3, set on the
same course at the 2009 NCAA Mideast Regional. By finishing in the top-35, McRae
earned All-Mideast Region honors.
With his finish, McRae is also in the pool of runners
under consideration to be selected to next week's NCAA National Championship
race in Hanover, Indiana. The top-seven individual runners from non-qualifying
teams also earn the right to compete at nationals.
Freshman Dan Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Frederick) was
named to the All-Mideast Region Freshman Team by finishing fifth among freshman
runners in the field. His time of 26:05 was good for 54th overall.
Senior Mark Talbott (Tallmadge, Ohio/CVCA) finished third
for the Wolverines and 84th overall with a time of 26:36 while fellow seniors

Co. Christian) ran times of 27:25 (142nd) and 27:33 (149th), respectively.
