Grove City takes second at Bethany Invite

BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team had three runners finish in the top 10 to help the Wolverines to a second-place finish in the 16-team Bethany Invitational on Saturday morning.

Grove City accumulated 62 points in the race, finishing behind Presidents' Athletic rival Saint Vincent's 46 points.

Senior Peter Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Broadfording Christian) led the Wolverines for the second-straight week and finished third overall in 27 minutes, two seconds while freshman Nick McClure (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) finished just three seconds later to take fourth overall in the 156-runner field.

Sophomore Dan Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Frederick) placed 10th with a time of 27:23 and freshman Drew Thibault (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) earned a 19th-place finish in 27:50.

Sophomore Brandon Wise (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) finished 26th in 28:29 to round out the Grove City scoring.

Saint Vincent junior Sawyer Palonder won the individual title with a time of 26:51.

Grove City returns to action September 20 at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational at Big Spring High School in Newville.
