Grove City 17th at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's cross country team placed 17th out of 34 teams Saturday at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble, which featured several of the nation's premier Division III cross country programs.

Grove City finished with 509 team points. Geneseo State won the team title with 97 points.

Senior Peter Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Broadfording Christian) led Grove City by taking 79th in the 291-runner field. He completed the eight-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 49.2 seconds. Freshman Nick McClure (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) took 82nd in a time of 26:51.0 while sophomore Daniel Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Frederick) placed 89th in 26:54.6.

Also for Grove City, freshman Drew Thibault (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) took 138th in 27:41.1 and sophomore Brandon Wise (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) captured 169th in a time of 28:04.5.

Rochester Institute of Technology's Matt Giannino won the race in 25:17.5.

Grove City returns to action November 1 for the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships at Bethany College in Bethany, W.Va.
